Engineering Divers
Engineering Divers
The role of the engineering diver is to determine the underwater condition of a pre-existing coastal structure via an underwater inspection. The information gained from this inspection is used by engineers for the purpose of design documents when upgrading or rehabilitating structures. This ensures that the design documents meet the requirements of the Board of Professional Engineers. Key roles for an engineering diver include:
- site to perform the entire inspection, both above water and underwater;
- structural evaluations;
- assign condition ratings and prioritize further maintenance;
- recommend repairs;
- prepare professional reports;
- prepare detailed repair designs;
- provide cost estimates;
- produce bid packages;
- assist in bid evaluation and award; and
- provide construction management/QC inspection services.
